Our new wall-mounted luminaire SML LED has scored a bull’s-eye of a very special kind only shortly after its launch. For its particularly good product design, the luminaire has been honored with one of the most renowned international design awards!
At this year’s competition run by Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, a renowned jury of experts assessed and gave their expert opinions on 4,662 entries in 19 different categories. Only the best designs were capable of impressing them. The winners included our SML LED, which garnered the 2013 red dot design award: product design for its successful design concept.
SML LED is the latest addition to our successful SML product range. We have now combined our slim-line classic with energy-efficient LEDs. To this end, we have worked with electrical engineers to develop a powerful cooling system, a power supply unit and LED circuit boards that comply with strict criteria, integrating these into the casing in such a way that the dimensions can be combined with the various halogen and fluorescent lamps on a modular principle.
For the same light output, SML LED consumes considerably less power and generates markedly less heat. The tiny light-emitting diodes are non-sensitive and boast a considerably longer lifespan than conventional energy saving lamps. Depending on use, SML LED can be fitted with different lamp covers for various kinds of light. The light it emits is free of ultraviolet and infrared radiation and its brilliance is comparable with the quality of halogen lamps. Because of its low heat radiation, SML LED is also eminently suitable for the kind of lighting with which people come into direct contact. SML LED is currently available in medium; sizes small and large will be following shortly. For detailed information please click button Quicklinks.
The prize-giving ceremony for this globally recognized seal of approval, the red dot design award, will take place on July 1, 2013 as part of the traditional red dot gala. SML LED will subsequently be on show at a special exhibition at the red dot design museum from July 2-28.
