The Fraunhofer Institute sees great growth potential in the use of fiber composites. The trend towards lightweight materials expands across all industries and is primarily known for solutions in the car industry and medical technology.
The use of lightweight technologies should be promoted, especially in small and medium-sized businesses. Therefore the coordinating body for lightweight construction of the Land Baden-Württemberg introduced a study funded by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.
The study presents ‘REEF’ as an exemplary innovation whose unique luminescent screen consists of ceramic foam. Ceramic foam is durable, dishwasher safe and perfectly distributes the scattered light in a soft bone china shade. The cylindrical bodies open at one end so that the luminaires of the REEF family radiate strong and brilliant whilst absolutely glare-free.
