Tomilaia – Demarchi – Biancalani
Three names – one concept

“Tuscan specialties served in a modern and welcoming trattoria atmosphere: vibrant, friendly, relaxed,” commented the inspectors for the 2016 Guide Michelin. They were describing the new restaurant “Tomilaia”, which together with the “Demarchi-Bar” and gourmet restaurant “Biancalani” due to reopen shortly, form a conceptual unity.

We were asked to provide the lighting for the restaurant and bar in Frankfurt’s Florentine Quarter. A special challenge for us in designing the fittings was the fact that these three dining establishments share the same unifying concept, but are in separate locations.

Each space presents its own distinct challenges depending on how it is to be used. Both in formal terms and as regards atmosphere, the individual lighting solutions must combine to produce a harmonious and logical whole: Bright, friendly light for the modern “Tomilaia”, subtle light full of atmosphere for the adjoining “Demarchi-Bar”, tasteful, atmospheric light for the intimate, classy “Biancalani”, where the overall concept is still being fine-tuned.

Our solution: In the modern Tomilaia the “Reef” family in gold velour with its organic looking shades of foam ceramic providing soft light reinforce the friendly Tuscan ambience. Several “Reef Suspension” luminaires with single shades arranged in an arc in front of the glass facade make for gentle overall lighting, which is complemented by pairs of “Reef Wall” mounted on the columns that structure the space.

Above the restaurant bar pendant luminaires by Foscarini supply suitable illumination, while accentuating the bar top and balancing the overall effect.

In the adjacent “Demarchi Bar” where a series of “One Eighty Suspension” luminaires with their light directed downwards and shielded to the sides make for an intimate atmosphere. And nomen est omen: What could round off the cozy atmosphere better than our “Club Floor” luminaires as atmospheric single lights.

Aside from the luminaires from the serien.lighting collection we have also integrated products by other manufacturers into our lighting concept, such as the above-mentioned pendant luminaires by Foscarini, which were an ideal choice in terms of design and lighting.
