Die Kraemer’sche Kunstmühle in Munich

In the south of Munich, on the high banks of the Isar, lies the site of the former Kraemer Mill.
Since the multi-phase conversion and extension, the public spaces, many of the rented office areas and the café/restaurant Dinnerschmiede have been equipped with luminaires from serien.lighting.

This historic building complex is being restructured in two phases and transformed into a modern commercial, studio and residential complex. The special challenge of the task results from the sensitive handling of the existing building fabric, the new building and the outstanding integration into the riverbank biotope of the Isar floodplains. The silo building was demolished, rebuilt and connected to the existing long body of the former mill. Typologically, the design is based on the clear structure of the building and the characteristic volumetry of the historic complex.
