Am Rhyn Haus Lucerne: ZOOM illuminates historic town house from 1618

The ‘Am Rhyn Haus’ in Lucerne is shining in new splendour after years of vacancy. It is one of Lucerne’s most prestigious townhouses, is of great artistic and historical value and has been a federally listed building since the 1950s.

The timeless ZOOM chandelier from serien.lighting now illuminates the ballroom in the front building (2x ZOOM1) as well as the Lucerne Hall (ZOOM2), the ballroom (ZOOM3) and the Anna Maria Hall (ZOOM3 with crystal pendants) in the rear building.

During the almost 2-year construction period, a modern infrastructure with toilets, kitchens, building services and lighting was installed and brought up to date. All ceiling, wall and floor surfaces were professionally renovated. Historic tiled stoves, furniture, mirrors, paintings and reverse glass paintings were cleaned and restored to their original location. It was possible to preserve the original condition and at the same time optimise the rooms and facilities for future use.

The two houses built around an inner courtyard served the former owner Schultheiss W. Am Rhyn and his family as residences for centuries. The front house with its entrance on Furrengasse was built in 1616-1618 in the Renaissance style. The rear building, which was furnished in 1785/86 in the then contemporary Louis XVI style and is almost completely preserved today, was once used to accommodate guests.

Following its complete renovation, the ‘Am Rhyn Haus’ is now partly rented out and continues to be used as a guesthouse.
The rooms can also be hired for events.
